Mealime is closing

Mealime closes on October 21. What happens to your recipes?

Mealime says the app will be discontinued on October 21, 2026, and that all personal data will be deleted when it shuts down. If you keep recipes there, this week is the week to deal with it.

The short version

After thatMealime's recipes live on in Meals Hub. Some preferences and settings have to be set up again there.

What Mealime's notice says

All of this comes from Mealime's own notice. It is short, and worth two minutes of your time.

Mealime was bought by Albertsons Companies in 2021, which is why Meals Hub sits inside Albertsons store apps and websites.

What it doesn't say

Two things are missing from the notice: what happens to the recipes you saved, and whether there is any way to download them.

We are not going to guess at either. We don't know of an export, and that is not the same as saying there isn't one. Check inside the app first. If you find nothing, assume the recipes go when the data goes.

If a recipe matters to you, don't wait to find out. Copy it somewhere you control before the 21st.

What to do this week

  1. Open Mealime and see what you'd actually miss

For most people it is five or ten regulars, not the whole list. That is a ten minute job, not an afternoon.

  2. Copy those somewhere that's yours

A note on your phone is fine. Screenshots are fine. The point is that it lives somewhere Mealime doesn't switch off.

  3. Decide where next week's plan comes from

Meals Hub is the move Mealime points you to. If you would rather not plan inside a supermarket's app, pick something else before the 21st, not after.

Where Mealime's recipes go

Meals Hub. Mealime says it has every recipe you use today plus thousands more, and that it is free, including the ones that used to need Mealime Pro.

It lives inside the Albertsons Companies grocery apps and store websites, so you create or sign in to an Albertsons account to use it. If you shop at one of those stores anyway, that is a short walk. If you don't, it's a grocery account for a meal planner.

If you'd rather not plan inside a grocery app

That is the reason most people give us for looking. A planner owned by a supermarket has a reason to make your list longer. We don't sell groceries.

HomeBasket is a recipe saver and weekly meal planner. You save recipes from anywhere, it plans a week around what is already in your kitchen, and you get one shopping list of what is actually missing. There is no food diary and no calorie counting.

The HomeBasket Recipes tab: For you, My recipes and All recipes, a search box, today's planned meals, and a Cook from your pantry row of recipes you have everything for.
Recipes you saved, and the ones you can cook right now.

Recipes come from wherever you found them. A TikTok, an Instagram reel, a YouTube video, a food blog. You share it to HomeBasket and it is saved with the creator credited, then checked against what is in your kitchen.

The HomeBasket Meals tab: the week of October 12 to 18, 21 of 21 meals planned and nothing to buy, a Generate my week button, and today's breakfast, lunch and dinner each marked Have all.
A week planned from the food already on your shelves.

One honest note. HomeBasket is not on the App Store yet. It is on iPhone first and in testing with a small group of households. You can join the early access list and we will write once, the day it is there. Mealime closes on the 21st, so for next week you will want something you can use now.
