Moving from Mealime

Mealime is closing on October 21. Keep the weekly routine.

Mealime has announced that the app will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026, and names Meals Hub, inside Albertsons Companies grocery apps, as its successor. If you want a planner that isn't tied to one grocer, here is how HomeBasket works, plainly.

The HomeBasket Plan tab: this week's days, a Generate my week button that plans seven days from your pantry, and Monday's breakfast and lunch.
A real screen from the app, not a mockup.

Before October 21

Mealime's notice says all personal data will be deleted when it closes. Take a minute now to note the meals your household actually liked, so you can find them again, wherever you cook next.

The routine carries over

Choose the week's meals

Tap Generate my week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or pick meals yourself. The week is a draft until you confirm it, and any meal can be swapped.

One shopping list, in store order

Confirm the week and what it needs lands on one list, grouped in the order you walk the store and shared with everyone in your household.

Cook one step at a time

Cook mode shows one step in big type, with the amounts for that step and a timer when the step needs one.

What's different

It plans from what's already in your kitchen

Most planners start from a blank week and send you shopping for all of it. HomeBasket starts from what you have, uses food that is about to turn first, and prefers dishes that share ingredients, so the list stays short. It learns what you have from your grocery receipts: one photo after a shop, no typing. How the planner decides.

Your recipes can come from anywhere

Over 2,000 recipes are built in, and your collection isn't limited to them. Share a reel from TikTok or Instagram, or paste a link from YouTube or any recipe site, and it becomes a recipe with the creator credited, checked against what you have. How saving works.

It isn't owned by a grocer

The list works at any store, and any printed grocery receipt can be read. We don't show ads, we don't sell or share your shopping data, and brands can't pay to be suggested. You pay for the app, and that is the whole business.

A meal plan should help you spend less at the store, not more.

What to know first

HomeBasket is coming to iPhone first and isn't on the App Store yet; it is in testing with a small group of households. An Android version will follow. It doesn't count calories or ask you to log meals.

Questions

Can I bring my Mealime recipes over?

Not directly. Mealime's notice doesn't mention an export, and HomeBasket doesn't copy recipes out of other apps' collections. What you can do is save any recipe from its original source, whether that is a creator's post, a food blog or a YouTube video, by sharing the link to HomeBasket. Over 2,000 recipes are built in as well.

When can I start using HomeBasket?

It is coming to iPhone first and is in testing with a small group of households now. Join the list and we'll write once, the day it is on the App Store.

Do I need to scan receipts to plan meals?

No. Saving recipes, planning the week and the shopping list all work without receipts. Receipts are how HomeBasket learns what is already in your kitchen without you typing it in, which makes the plan lean on food you have already bought.

Does it work with my grocery store?

Yes. HomeBasket isn't tied to a chain: the shopping list works anywhere, and any printed grocery receipt can be read. Receipts read so far include H-E-B, Costco, Walmart, Kroger, Publix, Whole Foods Market, ALDI, Trader Joe's, Target and more.

What will it cost?

Free during early access. The long-term plan is a simple subscription: you pay for the app, and that is the business. We don't show ads and we don't sell or share your shopping data.
